Book 12:The Crippled Lamb

This beautiful book written by Max Lucado is simply heartwarming with warm illustrations.  This story talks about a crippled lamb unable to make a long walk with his Shepard.  He is asked to stay back in the barn while his herd goes to the pasture.  That same evening Mary & Joseph find themselves in the staple with the lamb.  He is able to be present for the birth of Jesus.
Since this is such a deep book, I wanted to partner it with our last act of service.  But also wanted to keep it light and fun.  We took a dozen water bottles & candy canes to the train station to pass out.  This was quite interesting many people turned down our offer of free water- i felt like people were skeptical of a random good deed.  I tried to tell them, we were trying to teach the kids about how to treat people.  But a group of teenaged girls made MY day!  They were really happy to receive our gift.  As we were walking away, I over heard them say how being the recipient of a random act of kindness was the highlight of their day :)
